Airtel offers 28GB 4G data, unlimited calls for Rs 345 to counter Jio Prime

Airtel offers 28GB 4G data

Jio Prime has caused such a stir in the Indian telecom sector that all major operators have been forced to come up with new and updated plans offering unlimited data.
Hot on the heels of Idea and Vodafone, Airtel has reportedly announced a new plan offering 1GB 4G data/day and unlimited voice calls to any operator at just Rs 345 per month.
The catch here is that out of the 1GB daily data cap, only 500MB is available during the day and the rest 500MB can only be consumed between the unearthly hours of 3 and 5 am at night.
Jio on the other hand, offers Prime the chance to continue enjoying unlimited data till 31st March 2018, albeit with a fair usage cap of 1GB/day by shelling out Rs 303/month. There is also a Rs 499/month plan which offers 2GB of 4G data a day.
Airtel though has an advantage over Jio Prime and that is the fact that while the latter's offer is only available for Prime customers, the former's plan is available to the entirety of its customer base
To become a Prime customer, a user has to pay a flat entry fees of 99 rupees. Jio Prime is only valid for existing Jio users or those who get a new SIM activated on or before 31st March 2017, the day the 'Happy New Year' offer ends.
Earlier, Airtel used to offer only 1GB of 4G data along with unlimited local/STD calls to all operators for Rs 345/month.
Airtel has also unveiled a Rs 149 plan which offers unlimited Airtel to Airtel calls along with 2GB of 4G data for Rs 149. This plan also has a validity of 28 days.
Earlier today, Idea Cellular also announced a plan which offers users 14GB of 4G data (500MB/day) along with unlimited calls at just Rs 345/month. Remarkably, Vodafone too introduced a new Rs 346/month plan today which gives 28GB of 4G data(1GB/day) along with unlimited calls with a validity of 28 days.
Jio has also introduced a new 'Buy One Get One Free ' recharge offer for its Prime customers in order to entice its 100 million subscribers to opt for Prime.
